The Aam Aadmi Party government is in the trouble after a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report revealed that the Delhi government, the audit has revealed some shocking details pertaining to the massive amount of tax payers’ money AAP spend on self-advertisement in its first year, the audit has revealed that in their first year AAP spent Rs.29 crore in releasing advertisements outside Delhi.
The CAG report said the release of advertisements was “beyond” the responsibility of the Arvind Kejriwal government. The money was not spent advertising government job but was spend to advertise the party. Adding to the misusing of taxpayers money it is also found that that advertisements worth Rs.24 crore released by it were in violation of financial propriety and Supreme Court regulations, stated report tabled in the Delhi Assembly today.
The audit found that in several instances, work of the government was projected as the AAP’s achievements through the use of its symbol “broom” and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s name.
It’s shameful that “Over 85 per cent of expenditure of Rs.33.40 crore incurred in one specific publicity campaign pertained to advertisements released outside Delhi which was beyond the responsibility of the Delhi government,” “On test check of records, audit observed that expenditure of Rs.24.29 crore was incurred on advertisements and publicity campaigns that were not in conformity with the generally accepted principles of financial propriety or the guidelines on content regulation approved by the Supreme Court.
The Arvind Kejriwal government had allotted a whopping Rs.522 crore for advertisement and publicity in 2015-16 budgets, which was later revised to Rs.134 crore. Irony is the more than 60% of the money was used to advertise the party and not the work of government. The same money could have been used for elections outside Delhi i.e.Punjab and Goa. Aam Aadmi Party has made a mockery of the people Delhi and their tax money.
