In a much-anticipated twist, the BJP President Amit Shah has chosen Vijay Rupani as the next CM of Gujarat and Nitin Patel as the Dy CM. Anandiben who successful led the government for over 2 years resigned this week stating the reason of age.
The selection of new CM also comes as an important step before the state goes into election next year. The Congress which has been out of power for almost 20 years is desperately trying all measures to get back to power. The patel agitation ignited a year ago was aimed to divide the Patidar community invoking agitations and riots in which congress seems to have played a crucial role.
The sudden attack on Dalits also pose various questions as to why did the attackers came all the way from Maharashtra? Was it pre-planned to dent the image of BJP in Gujarat?! Gujarat which is known for its unprecedented development under the leadership of Narendra Modi continued the trend even after Anadiben took over as Chief Minister. Now a strong leader who could not only focus on developmental works started by Modi but also the one who can tame anti-social elements responsible for causing violence and damage to public property is required.
Vijay Rupani was the state president and the minister of transport, water supply, labour and employment in Anandiben Patel government. He is considered to be most efficient in his work and also non-controversial leader accepted by all. Mr. Rupani is said to be close aide of Amit Shah and has previously assisted him in leading elections. He was first elected in 2014 as MLA from Rajkot west, the seat vacated by Vajubhai Vala, the governor of Karnataka.
Gujarat will now gear up itself for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2017 and assembly elections under the new Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
