This is unbelievable! New CM of UP, Yogi Adityanath is straightaway into the implementation mode. Shutting down of illegal as well as legal slaughter houses was the prominent promise made by BJP in their manifesto.CM Yogi is in the action mode on delivering this promise even before his Oath Ceremony. As per Amar Ujala’s report, not a single animal slaughter has taken place in Meerut since Saturday. And today, two illegal slaughter houses in Allahabad have been shut down.
In the election Manifesto of BJP, which they call ‘LokKalyan Sankalp Patra’, it was mentioned that all the illegal slaughter houses in UP will be shut down strictly and mechanized slaughter houses will be banned by the BJP Government. Giving priority to this issue, CM Yogi has ordered UPPCB (UP Pollution Control Board) to present the compiled list of all Slaughter Houses before the State Government. The way this issue is addressed seriously by CM Yogi has filled the people of UP with assurance. The UP people have elected the BJP Government with astoundingly huge and historic mandate of 325 seats in the State assembly election 2017.
There are around 40 slaughter houses-cum-meat processing plants in the UP state which are approved by government .As per APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) most of these mechanized abattoirs have registration valid up to 2018. The cities in which these slaughter houses are set up are Aligarh (7), Gaziabad (5), Unnao (4), Meerut (3), Saharanpur (2) and one each in Barabanki, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Hapur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Jhansi, Lucknow and Bulandshahr. Now the BJP Government under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath has to take a decision to either ban renewal after the expiry of registration period or cancel it right away.
Apart from the registered slaughter houses, many have been functioning illegally. These slaughter houses have followed no norms all these years due to the protection by the political parties like SP, BSP and Congress. Last year, the Central Pollution Control Board had objected to the filthy practice of discharging animal carcasses in the rivers by these illegal slaughter houses. But Samajwadi Party which is known for its minority appeasement paid no heed to these serious grievances. As per the political experts, most of the slaughter houses are alleged to be owned by leaders of SP and BSP.
Today two illegal slaughter houses in Allahabad were sealed by Nagar Nigam Authorities. In Meerut city too, all the slaughter house activities have come to standstill. Under previous SP Government, the police force was pressurized to act as per the whims of political leaders. Hence they used to take no action against the Hindu Activists’ complaints of cow slaughter activities. Now under CM Yogi’s rule, the police are patrolling around the slaughter houses keeping check on their activities.
Though it’s a bad news for those who have stakes in the slaughter business, people of UP are happy in general. Cow is considered as a sacred mother (Gau Mata) as per Hinduism. Cow slaughter has been a painful issue for the Hindu population in India, which is around 80%. BJP’s promise on this sensitive issue seems to have made an impact on Hindu voters. It’s a huge relief to the farmers too, who have been complaining of their cattle going missing.
The beginning is promising. The sensitive issue of cow slaughtering has been taken up on a priority basis by CM Yogi’s team. Soon, the flow of cattle blood will be replaced by the streams of milk and ghee throughout the UP state. Amit Shah hadn’t bluffed after all!
