Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the 32nd C.M of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Yogi Adityanath had always been a popular face in Uttar Pradesh. Many ‘honest’ journalists had questioned the BJP high command over Yogi’s appointment to the top post. The Modi lead government has also been accused of playing the communal card. Yogi Adityanath will be the new target of the news brokers. Yogi Adityanath has often been branded as a leader with a ‘Hindu extremist’ image. But the fact is that even Yogi Adityanath has always had a pro-development agenda.

Even before completing 24 hours in office, the UP CM has already made 3 significant moves. Yogi has already banned all the illegal slaughterhouses in the state. The axe on slaughterhouses was earlier promised in the election campaign. He has earlier asked all his MLAs to disclose their income & assets to the chief minister’s secretariat and BJP state unit within 15 days. Yogi Adityanath has also said no the ‘lalbatti’ culture. Even after the landslide victory the BJP seems in no mood to display its strength in the Hindi heartland.

A man who has already taken 3 significant decisions within 24 hours of being sworn in as the CM, is surely capable of doing much better work within the next 1825 days. Journalists (don’t know if I can really call them so) have constantly been trying to malign him & the saffron driven party. Barkha Dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai, Rana Ayyub, Sagarika Ghose and Nidhi Razdan have already started asking ‘questions’ on social media.

In one particular tweet Rana Ayyub compared Yogi Adityanath to Sajjan Kumar, one of the key accused in the 1984 Sikh massacre. Around 8000 Sikhs were mercilessly killed in the attack. Has Yogi Adityanath ever been accused of even conspiring against the minorities? Yogi has no pending cases against him. On what basis does a pseudo liberal question his integrity? If she can prove her point why doesn’t she appeal to the election commission?

The journalists who have been constantly questioning the elevation of Yogi Adityanath to the top post, should also know why PM Modi, BJP president Amit Shah & the BJP party high command decided to elect Yogi Adityanath? Yogi Adityanath is a credible face in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He is a five time MP from Gorakhpur.

He has worked for the people of Gorakhpur without discriminating on the basis of religion. There are more Muslims availing free medical treatment from Yogi Adityanath’s hospital in Gorakhpur. Yogi Adityanath’s trust also provides free meals for people across all religions. Srikanth Sharma, UP cabinet minister had earlier stated that there is no discrimination when Muslims turned out in larger numbers to have food provided by Yogi Adityanath’s trust.

His agenda is no different from the senior leaders of the party. He wants development & is proud of being a Hindu. He doesn’t believe in appeasement & has no corruption charges against him. His track record suggests that he is capable of minimizing the threat of hooliganism. He is also a hard worker & leads a simple life. All these factors would have led PM Modi & BJP chief Amit Shah to take the decision. The decision cannot be linked with saffron extremism. Yogi Adityanath was given the top post with only one intention- to deliver. If you still have questions, we have the answer- Pure Merit.
