UP CM Yogi Adityanath is on a mission. A mission to see Uttam Pradesh as a reality. The Media had problems with Yogi’s anti-romeo squads (the same people that cry for women empowerment). Yogi wanted to stop the menace of eve-teasing that had increased during Akhilesh Yadav’s regime.
Yogi unlike other leaders is not using the phrase to gain ground. The UP CM is determined to work towards women’s safety. Yogi is giving the Indian touch to everything that he does. He is progressive and all he wants is to keep with the Indian tradition without diminishing the system of education.
UP had faced a lot of problems related to Women’s safety under the previous governments. Mulayam’s ‘Boys will be boys’ is one of the ugliest examples of how political bigwigs try to shield rapists. His son went a step further and asked a female journalist if she was okay. This was another embarrassing incidence that took place when the journalist questioned Yadav on the issue of women’s safety after incidents of rape were on the rise, during Yadav’s tenure as CM.
Within one week of assuming office Yogi came up with the anti-romeo squads, so that the eve-teasers could be strictly dealt with. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court in March upheld the UP government’s move to set up the anti-Romeo squads. But few people mocked the name given to the squad. So now Yogi has changed the name to ‘Nari Suraksha Bal’ and it will continue to protect women and reduce the menace of eve teasing.
