Delivering masterstrokes has been so common for PM Modi that even in the presentation of highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, a masterstroke was delivered. No one even thought that former Indian president and senior Congress leader would be awarded with Bharat Ratna. This made the current Congress leaders dumbstruck. They even lost the opportunity to shout that PM Modi didn’t give it to deserving candidates.
But few of the highly skilled journalists didn’t give up so easily. A journalist from The Wire named Arfa Khanum Sherwani made a bizarre argument saying “Give me three reasons why Paranb Mukherjee deserves a Bharat Ratna? I only know one- He visited RSS headquarters”.
But I’ll give her three named out of the 24, whose mercy petition was rejected by Pranab Mukherjee when he was India’s president. Terrorist Yakub Memon, Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru used judiciary to get out but Mr. Mukherjee didn’t let them free.
After The Wire journalist, now a politician from Karnataka’s ruling party has made the lame argument saying Pranab Mukherjee got Bharat Ratna as he had visited RSS headquarters.
Janata Dal (Secular) leader Danish Ali said “Pranab Mukherjee is being awarded the Bharat Ratna because he visited the RSS headquarters and described the founding Sarsanghchalak chief, K B Hedgewar, as ‘the son of the soil'”
He even on to say “It’s very unfortunate. Biju Patnaik ji and Kanshi Ram ji should have been conferred Bharat Ratna before Pranab Mukherjee. He has been awarded just because he went to RSS Headqaurters. He and PM have common big industrialist friends, perhaps it also played a role”.
Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt expired at the age of 111 years, last week. Danish Ali tried to politicize Swamiji’s death saying “We protest this as Sri Sri Shivakumara Swami of Siddaganga has not been conferred the award. Swamiji was a legend and had worked towards the social welfare of people all his life”.
But will he dare to answer why Bharat Ratna was not conferred to Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji when his party supremo Deve Gowda was India’s Prime Minister two decades ago?
