Few months ago, postcard had made an article on 10 fearless female cops, who are making India proud. Today, an IPS officer who was mentioned in it has made us proud again.
Politicians are of the mindset that they are VIPs throughout their life. They demand royal treatments wherever they go. This is what happens when money is earned through various scams.
But, we Indians trust our constitution and that trust was proved right time and again. AIADMK general secretary Sasikala was sentenced in disproportionate of assets. Sasikala and two others were found guilty in the 21-year-old corruption case.
Everyone were in the deception that she is undergoing punishment for her wrong deeds but the firebrand top cop of Karnataka proved us wrong. DIG of prison, D Roopa alleged that Karnataka Director General of Prisons (DGP) Satyanarayana Rao took 2 crores in bribe and allotted a separate kitchen to Sasikala in Bengaluru Parappana Agrahara Central jail.
She is considered no less than a film hero because she never hesitated to go against any corrupt individual, no matter what kind of political position he/she held. The nation needs officers like D Roopa because being an IPS officer, has huge scope to clean the system. But not everyone can withstand the pressure of the corrupt and powerful politicians.
Who is D Roopa, the nightmare of the corrupts
IPS D Roopa belongs to elite officers, who secured 43rd rank in UPSC exam in 2000. She could have easily got into IAS but her love was in wearing the “Khaki uniform”.
She was ranked fifth position in her batch at NPS Hyderabad and was the only officer who was allotted the Karnataka cadre. She is also a sharp shooter and has been conferred with President’s Police Medal for Meritorious service on 26 January 2016.
Many won’t know that she is a trained Bharatnayam dancer. She is even well versed with classical Hindustani music. She is from Davanagere in Karnataka and holds a post-graduate degree in science. She is married to Munish Moudgil, a Karnataka cadre civil servant.
She had even removed police vehicles which were sent to the service of politicians that were unauthorised. When IPS Roopa was an SP in Madhya Pradesh, she even arrested the then Chief Minister of MP, Uma Bharati after the court order in a rioting case. This bold move was highly appreciated.
Due to officers like IPS D Roopa, politicians’ atrocities on citizens have reduced.
