One year back when PM Modi and the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar said that Indian armed forces should have women officers, it was not just an rhetoric statement or eye wash. But the Indian government and Indian armed forces were very keen to give equal opportunity to women officers to show that they were equally capable of handling the war machines.
Just few months after the announcement, three women fighter pilots were deployed last year which made the country proud of our women.
The Modi government also used the theme ‘Women Power’ for the 65th Republic day celebrations in the year 2015. The first women only contingent walked proudly on the streets of Rajpath displaying the women power in the Indian armed forces. The guard of honour to Ex President Barak Obama was lead by Pooja Thakur which was first of its kind.
Now, there is another moment to feel proud about as the SPG (Special Protection Group) has deployed a lady commando for the very first for the security of the Prime Minister Modi. The lady commander was seen with the security team which accompanied PM Modi when he boarded flight on 4 country visit yesterday.
