Howdy Modi, a historic event addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Houston, Texas turned out to be a huge success with over 50,000 Indian-Americans taking part in the rally.
The event is said to be the largest ever receptions of the foreign leader in the US. The event was attended by various dignitaries from across the world.
With US President Donald Trump joining the rally with PM Modi, the ties between India-US has seemed to be strengthened.
But, amidst all this, the one thing we are missing out is the person who made it all possible- The Indian ambassador for the US Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
Yes, from keeping a close watch on the mega event to arranging important meetings with the US delegates, Harsh Vardhan Shringla has worked hard to make it all success.
It is said that it was Shringla who was behind the setting up of second meeting between Donald Trump and PM Modi at the sidelines of UNGA on September 24.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla
Harsh Vardhan Shringla is a career diplomat and a member of the Indian foreign services since 1984.
He graduated from St Stephens college, New Delhi and has worked in several corporate and public sectors prior to joining the Indian Foreign Service. He has pursued courses and published papers on conflict prevention, economic diplomacy, The India diaspora and India-Bangladesh relations.
Shringla is well-versed in French, Vietnamese and Nepali languages apart from English and other Indian languages.
In the span of 35 years of his career, Shringla has held variety of positions in New Delhi and also abroad. He has served in France, Israel, Vietnam, USA and South Africa.
Shringla has served as the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh and Ambassador of India to Thailand.
He has served in Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi as Joint Secretary responsible for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Maldives and has also headed the United Nations Political and SAARC Divisions in the Ministry.
Earlier, he has served as Director of the Northern division dealing with Nepal and Bhutan as Deputy Secretary of the Europe West Division.
Shringla played an important role in the successful visit of Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina to India in April 2017 and strengthening the bilateral relationship, which Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi described as rise of a Golden Era in the bilateral ties.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla assumed charge as Indian Ambassador to the United States on January 9, 2019, becoming the youngest Ambassador of the United States. He presented his credentials to the President of the US Donald Trump on January 11, 2019.
Shringla was awarded the JT Gibson Award in 2017, for outstanding Alumni by Mayo College, Ajmer for his notable career and impeccable service to his country and he was also awarded with D. Litt Honoris Causua Honorary Doctorate degree by the ICFAI University, Sikkim in 2019 for mastering variation of the diplomacy and helping the reputation of the Nation.
As of now, Shringla has also set-up a meeting on September 25 with the heads of 45 US companies including Bank Of America, JP Morgan, Coca Cola, IBM, Deloitte, Cisco systems and Chase.
Altogether, the success of Howdy Modi event in Houston, Texas is yet another feather to the cap of Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
