Another victory for India as China accepted Arunachal Pradesh and Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is an integral part of India

In a diplomatic win for India, China for the very first time accepted that Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India. For the very first time it uses correct map for the Belt and Road Forum. Currently China is hosting second Belt and Road forum in Beijing from 25th to 27th April. The map used by the Chinese authorities for the summit showed the Indian states of Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh as part of India whereas earlier they used to represent Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Pakistan and Arunachal Pradesh as part of south Tibet

Not only this, the map also portrays India as part of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) even when India boycotted the summit for the second time. It is being attended by 37 other nations. The map has been displayed by China’s ministry of commerce on the occasion of the three-day BRI Summit

This move of China has come as a surprise because recently only China destroyed thousands of maps which showed Arunachal Pradesh as part of India. China regularly protests visits by top Indian leadership to Arunachal Pradesh, described as “Southern Tibet” in Chinese government parlance

Last November also China’s state run television China Global Television Network group (CGTN) part of the China Central Television, based in Beijing has portrayed Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of original map of Jammu and Kashmir which has been a long standing demand by India for decades. The picture of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir by China’s state run television was displayed while reporting the terror attack on Chinese consulate.

But it is suspected that it could be a deliberate attempt by the Chinese Government. The experts are seeing this as well planned move by China. Experts on Sino-Indian affairs are trying to ascertain if it is a deliberate tactical move by China to placate India

Although there is no confirmation on it yet, whether it was pre-planned move or not as China very well knows it can affect its relation with Pakistan. It may draw reaction from Islamabad and the Pakistan Army. It will also have implications for China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC). India has strong reservations on CPEC as it violates its sovereignty. CPEC is considered as the most important connectivity link under BRI.
