“Ayushman Bharat Yojana ” A revolutionary scheme by Modi Government to create a healthy,capable and content New India

A sound health is essential for a well being. But in today’s era due to changing lifestyle people are suffering from various health related problems. For financially sound people it is easier to reach top class hospitals and get good services. But, the poor people have to struggle a lot. Keeping in view all such people and to create a healthy, capable and content New India, Modi Government has come up with a revolutionary scheme “Ayushman Bharat Yojana or National Health Protection Scheme”.

Main Goals of the Scheme

Health and Wellness Centers

This scheme involves establishment of health and wellness centers across the nation to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services. These centers will deliver essential drugs and services to the people without any cost.

The scheme was officially launched by Prime Minister Modi on the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April 2018).First health and wellness center(HWC) under the scheme was opened in Jangla, district Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Central govt. will transform around 1,50,000 Sub centers and primary health centers into Health and Wellness Centres (HWC)

National Health Protection Scheme

To provide insurance cover to at least 40 per cent of India’s population which is majorly deprived of secondary and tertiary care services. There is no income, family size, age and other limits to avail its benefits.

It will also cover pre and post hospitalization benefits and its benefits are portable across the country. Payment of treatment will be made on Package Rate basis and all cost of treatment will get included in it.

This scheme was announced by Modi Government during budget presentation. It is one of its kind world best healthcare scheme. Some people also referred to it as “MODI CARE”.

Important takeaways of Scheme

Whooping coverage of 10 crore poor families i.e. approximate number of beneficiaries under the scheme will be 50 crore

Cashless treatment upto Rupees 5 lakh per year to all families which lie below the poverty line

1.5 Lakh health and wellness centers would be started in health centers / hospitals across the country. More than 18 thousands already in operation.

Benefits are not limited to any particular hospitals or branch. It can be availed from any hospital across the country.

All public and private hospitals are covered under the scheme

Also include transport allowance per hospitalization

The premium of the insurance coverage will be completely borne by the central and state governments based on the ration defined by the Ministry of Finance.

The selection of beneficiaries will be based on SECC-2011 data.Central government will create a database of the targeted beneficiaries which will consists of all the details of deprived households. These households will have to apply online for Ayushman Bharat Yojana 2018 to avail benefits.

The eligibility criteria of Ayushman Bharat Yojana is solely based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data covering both rural and urban areas across the country. The total number of the beneficiary families would be about 10.74 Crore consisting of deprived rural families and identified occupational category of urban workers’ families.

However, if the criteria of exclusion / inclusion / deprivation / occupation in SECC data is changed in future, the scheme will take into account all the changes and the beneficiary families will be included / excluded on the basis of same changed criteria

The programme will be implemented by the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission Agency (AB-NHPMA) under the supervision of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.State Health Agency (SHA), newly formed or formed using an existing trust / society / no-profit company / state nodal agency would be responsible for the implementation of the scheme in respective state & UT’s.

This step taken by Modi Government has made the life of people very much easier.Now they don’t have to bear burden of large finances occuring during their treatment and can lead a healthy and happy life.
