In a big setback to Congress Party, Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed by Congress leader Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot seeking a direction to Election Commission to provide the draft voter list in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in text format.A bench of justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan dismissed the plea supporting Election Commission and said “There are no loopholes in the Election Commission mechanism on handling the elections”
Few days ago the senior Congress leaders alleged in the Supreme Court that in the voter list of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan there is duplication of names. Congress spokesperson and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, on behalf of Kamal Nath said that on the basis of survey conducted by Congress leader Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh, in Madhya Pradesh only there are around 60 lakh duplicate names. The plea said, In Rajasthan, the poll panels have added 71 lakh new voters, and asked for directions to be given to remove inconsistencies and conduct free and fair elections. The Congress leaders also asked for random verification of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips which record the choice of the voter, in at least 10 per cent polling stations in every constituency
After which the Supreme Court has sought reply from the Election Commission. In its response to Supreme Court the Election Commission had denied the allegations and said it was “misleading and inaccurate”. The Commission emphasized that it has always upheld the integrity and purity of the electoral process and is committed to conduct “free and fair elections”.
The Election Commission told the Supreme Court that the Congress party’s petition is based on counterfeit evidence. The election panel said that the available voter list of EC website has been tampered by Congress leaders and presented in the form of evidence against the court. In fact the Election commission urged the Supreme Court that Congress must be punished for producing fake voters list in front of Court
The bench had reserved its verdict on October 8 after concluded the hearing of the pleas. But today the apex Court has dismissed the pleas putting an end to the drama of Congress leaders
Congress leaders always resort to such dramas and tactics during the polls. Before the polls the Congress raises issues like duplicity of voters and random verification of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips whereas after elections it always start blaming EVM for its failure.Congress Party and its leaders never accept the fact that they have been rejected by people. They are not the choice of masses. They have to accept this and now it’s time for them to stop doing meaningless things and accept their mistake by playing their role as a responsible opposition contributing in the development of the country. But Congress will not ever do this because patriotism is nowhere in DNA of Congress
