In a big setback to Congress party, the Election Commission told Supreme Court that Congress party has tried to mislead the Supreme Court by submitting the forged document of voters list. The Election Commission urged the Supreme Court that Congress must be punished for producing fake voters list in front of Court
It all came in front after the Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Sachin Pilot alleged in the Supreme Court that in the voter list of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan there is duplication of names. Congress spokesperson and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, on behalf of Kamal Nath said that on the basis of survey conducted by Congress leader Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh, in Madhya Pradesh only there are around 60 lakh duplicate names. On the petition filed by the Congress leaders the Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to respond to the charge
The Election Commission in its response had denied the allegations and said it was “misleading and inaccurate”. The Commission emphasized that it has always upheld the integrity and purity of the electoral process and is committed to conduct “free and fair elections”.
The Election Commission told the Supreme Court that the Congress party’s petition is based on counterfeit evidence. The election panel said that the available voter list of EC website has been tampered with and presented in the form of evidence against the court. It informed the court that the photographs and names which were referenced in the lists submitted by Congress have been manipulated. The Election Commission also said that Congress party leaders should be punished for performing such act
However the Congress party rebutted the allegation and said what it had submitted to the Supreme Court was “whatever was available in the public domain”, and the same list, it claimed, was carried by the electronic media. The party also told the court that the same voters list, which the Election Commission says is faked, was given to the Chief Election Commissioner in CDs. Congress leader Kapil Sibbal further questioned Election Commission as to why the Election Commission has not initiated any investigation against that private website which is presenting the false list of voters. The Congress earlier had also asked for random verification of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips, which record the choice of the voter, in at least 10 per cent polling stations in every constituency
The Congress leaders will never improve. They will never stop their shameful acts. Even after being rejected by the people, they want to return to power. In the greed of power the Congressmen have gone crazy and are resorting to such tactics. If the Congress had done something for the nation in the 70 years provided to them by the people today they would not have to face such circumstances. It’s time for Congress to stop doing meaningless things and accept their mistake by playing their role as a responsible opposition contributing in the development of the country. But Congress will not ever do this because patriotism is nowhere in DNA of Congress
