Big Victory for India as Dubai passes order to extradite Christian Michel of Agusta Westland scam

In a big win for India, the Dubai government has finally ordered extradition of British middlemen Christian Michel who is wanted by Indian investigative agencies in the Rs 36 billion Agusta Westland VVIP choppers deal case.

According to sources, this week Michel is likely to be brought to India. He is accused of handling and routing over 60 million euros for kickbacks in the deal for Agusta Westland helicopters. UAE authorities arrested him in 2017 and since then, the Indian Investigating Agencies had been demanding to extradite Christian Michel to India which has been fulfilled now

Last month Dubai Cassation Court has ordered the extradition of Christian Michel by rejecting his plea and all the claims made made by his lawyer in order to save Christian from extradition. After this, a formal administrative order by the Dubai government was long awaited and that wait is now finally over. Ministry of Justice of Dubai has completed the formalities to effect the extradition of Christian Michel.

And it will not take long to get him extradited to India as Indian officials were already in Dubai for the past few days completing all the legal formalities and they were trying their level best to extradite Michel as quickly as possible. As soon as he will be extradited to India he will be formally arrested and will be produced before Patiala House Court in Delhi with prosecutors seeking his custodial interrogation.

It all started in February 2017 when the Dubai government informed India that there was no evidence regarding a Dubai company facilitating the payment of kickbacks which was a big surprise for India.

“No data in respect of Global Services FZE, Dubai, could be evidenced” read an official communication sent by Dubai authorities on February 2, 2017. It added that “investigation and scrutinising the database of criminal information system found no personal data in respect of David Syms”. David Syms, a member of the Syms family, controls a large number of companies. David is listed as director in more than two dozen companies. As per available information, David along with his octogenarian father Charles Syms, were business associates of Michel for more than 15 years. Global Services FZE, Michel’s Dubai firm, was signed on to facilitate the sale of 14 old Westland choppers to be procured by Pawan Hans.

After which the Indian Government supplied “sufficient incriminating evidence” showing Michel’s involvement in the scandal. Micheal tried his hard to prove him innocent as well as played cards of inhumanity but the Dubai court, flatly rejected all contentions raised by Michel against the extradition plea. Dubai Court held that “the argument is rejected as the request for extradition is not in the case of political, religious or racial in nature”.

It is surely not good news for the Congress party but good news for the nation. The revelations made once Micheal will be extradited will bring huge embarrassment for the Congress party ahead of 2019 general elections. It will definitely bring out all the names of the corrupts and criminals who back stabbed the country and looted crores of tax payers money. The time is not far when the will be extradited to India and the Congress party has to pay for their deeds.
