When speaking of the blunders committed by Indian Prime Minister, the first person that comes to our mind is Jawaharlal Nehru. But your assumption is wrong; the Prime Minister who created the biggest blunder was Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The blunder created by him was that he didn’t live long enough.
Yes, if he had lived at least for ten more years, then the entire scenario of India would have changed.
- Today, Congressmen say that Indira Gandhi-who imposed emergency for 21 months- is the greatest PM of all time. But if Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji hadn’t died in the year 1966 then Indira would have never become the Prime Minister.
- 20,000 Indians wouldn’t have lost life in Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Bofors scams wouldn’t have had happened. Surprised? Yes, because if Shastri Ji wouldn’t have died in 1966, then Rajiv Gandhi would have never got a chance to be the PM. He would have been a pilot who often jumped from company to company in search of a better salary package.
- Perhaps, Sonia Gandhi would have never got a chance to be the wife of Indian. She would have been in Italy. But sadly she married Rajiv Gandhi and ruled India for several years. Under her rule, a staunch patriot Colonel Purohit was arrested and Sadhvi Pragya was tortured for years. This happened due to the untimely death of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
- Today, a 47 year old man is fooling Indians that he is the youth Icon and the future PM of India and that is Mr Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi is so much capable and highly efficient that Congress is unable to win even a single state election under his leadership. Truly a great leader!!! If Shastri Ji had lived few more years, than Rahul Gandhi would have been working in a company like a common man. Dont imagine him in a position of a manager of any company because he is incapable to do so.
Today, India is heading rightly in every direction under PM Modi’s leadership. But this would have happened long back if Shastri Ji was alive. Yes, it was under Shastri, Indian Army had entered Pakistan and hoisted Indian flag in Lahore. It was under Shastri Ji that India was heading rightly to become a nuclear power.
Mr. Shastri held charge of the country for a brief period of 18 months. But during this short span, India achieved what Nehru couldn’t achieve in his several years of anarchy.
Indira Gandhi thought of quitting politics!!!
Yes, in the year 1965 she had revealed in a letter to her friend that she wanted quit Indian politics and join her sons in London. Both her sons were then studying in the United Kingdom.
But everything changed in the year 1966. India lost a great leader named Lal Bahadur Shastri. Soon the dynasty politics took branches, which eventually paved ways to scams and scams and scams. Till 1965, India was hardly aware of a woman named Indira Gandhi.
Kashmir’s Abdullahs would have been out of business!!!
Today, the Kashmir dispute is mainly due to Nehru and Abdulla’s family. But Shastri Ji would have had put an end to it. Yes, a softy spoken person was not so soft when it came to uphold India’s integrity. Sadly everything changed in a matter of time and India got pushed centuries back in terms of development.
But, fortunately after almost 50 years, Modi came to our rescue. But Indians will never forget the blunder created by Lal Bahadur Shastri.
