BJP President Amit Shah is not getting complacent by any chance. After sweeping the MCD, the party decided to not celebrate its win in memory of the Sukma martyrs. Shah, has already started working for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Shah has taken up a Vistaar Yatra (expansion tour) to concentrate on the Lok Sabha seats where the BJP lost in 2014. Shah will be visiting five states of J&K, Odisha, Lakshadweep, Gujarat & Telangana.
The aim of the Vistaar Yatra is to consolidate the 120 seats, BJP lost in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Shah will begin his Vistaar Yatra with a two-day trip from Jammu & Kashmir. The BJP is a coalition partner of the People’s Democratic Party which is in power in J&K. The BJP has 3 Member of Parliaments & 26 MLAs in J&K. The by poll for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat has been deferred by the Election Commission. The Anantnag LOK sabha Seat has been vacated by J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti.
Shah’s state visit is of extreme importance as there has been an increase in incidents of stone pelting. This is similar to the stone pelting incidents in 2010, when the unrest in the valley was at its peak. Shah will be meeting eminent intellectuals during his visit. After J&K, Shah will make it to Odisha, Lakshadweep, Gujarat & Telangana. The BJP, has created 19 departments to ensure that the party functions equally from district to national level.
The BJP is the largest political party in the world with 110 million members. Shah in a recent interview sounded confident of PM Modi being re-elected in 2019. However, the BJP president did not downplay his opponents & only said that they had immense faith in the efforts of the party members.
