After 24 years of Mumbai Blast, the TADA court today convicted Abu Salem and 6 others who were accused of conspiring the 1993 Mumbai blast.
Abu Salem Abdul Qayoom Ansari also known as Aqil Ahmed Azmi, who was accused of planning the Mumbai blast in the year 1993 which killed hundreds of people has finally been convicted by the TADA court. Mustafa Dossa, Abu Salem, Firoz Khan, Karimullah Khan and Taher Merchant have also been declared guilty of the serial blasts.

These men were arrested under the Special Terrorism and Disruptive Activities Act in between 2003 and 2010 and were also facing multiple charges which include criminal conspiracy, waging war against the Government of India and murder. The trail was being held for 24 years. They are said to be close aides of Dawood Ibrahim who is prime accused and the master mind of the blast and facilitated him to carry out the serial blasts in Mumbai.
Nearly 300 people were killed and 700 were injured in the blasts. Dawood Ibrahim took help from Tiger Memon and Yakub Memon (Hanged in 2015) who were the prime conspirators in the case.
The quantum of punishment is reserved and will be declared soon said the court. The CBI lawyer said that they had demanded the most stringent punishment for the heinous act.
