After the saffron wave seems to be getting a completely new wave to every state of India, the age old practice and cities named after Mughal rulers and Dynasty families have been changing with time. Each and every leader heading the BJP party is under an attempt to remove the tags of Mughal impressions in India and no leave no sign of negative past.
The first towards this positive move, has been taken by our Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. It has been only a few days that the UP Government changed the name of Allahabad to “Prayagraj”. This move had received negative comments by the Opposition, but many out there had expressed positivity towards the change.
After the UP CM Yogi Ji, now its Union Minister Giriraj Singh who has backed Yogi Adityanath and said that he ‘took a good step’. The Union Minister said that the all the names of places connected to Mughals should be changed.
“Khilji looted Bihar but Bakhtiarpur is named after him. Names of around 100 places were changed, including Bihar’s Akbarpur. Yogi Ji took a good step. I will demand that in the entire country and in Bihar, the names connected to Mughals should be changed,” said Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
It was on the 16th of October, the Yogi Adityanath government officially renamed Allahabad as ‘Prayagraj’. While announcing the decision UP Health Minister, Siddharth Nath Singh, said, “The city used to be known as Prayagraj since the beginning. Around 500 years ago, the name was changed. To those who are opposing the decision, how would you feel if the name your parents gave you was to be changed?”
This trend of names of cities being changed has grabbed the attention of many towards building a better India with washing away the names of Mughal influence on India. The BJP party is working hard towards removing these tags from several of the cities all over India.
And this attempt is not just towards Mughal named cities but also to change the names of the cities named after the one and only Dynasty family members. Indians claim that, the Dynasty family has no right to flaunt their names in India, when they have done nothing for the country since the past 60 years.
Allahabad is the third place to be renamed by the present Uttar Pradesh government after changing the name of Farah town to Deen Dayal Dham and Mughalsarai railway station to Deen Dayal Upadhyay station. There has also been a growing demand to name Bakhtiyarpur railway station in Bihar, which was named after Bakhtiyar Khilji (military general of Qutb-ud-din Aibak, who destroyed the famous Nalanda University in the 12th century).
