UP CM Yogi Adityanath to make surprise calls on landlines, to keep a check on ‘Babu Culture’

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has taken a new step to deal with truant officers in the state. The officers who were previously used to the ‘babu’ culture will not have it easy anymore. Adityanath, in a surprise move has decided to make unexpected landline calls to the officers to check if they are in office. Uttar Pradesh Power Minister Srikant Sharma said that Yogi would make these surprise calls to officers between 9am to 6 pm.

If the officers are not able to give a valid reason for their absence & justify their absence for not being able to receive the UP CM’s call, they could face penalties. Srikant Sharma, who is also the spokesperson of the UP government, said that officers on field jobs will be given some relaxation. “The idea is that the top officers follow rules, the juniors will naturally follow them,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath has taken another significant decision in this regard. He has ordered senior officers in the state to immediately close all home offices. The UP CM had earlier made it clear that he expected the officers to put in a lot of effort every day. He had asked them to work for 18-20 hours or leave the job. Yogi, had made it clear that the mistakes of previous governments would not be repeated.

The Babu culture which had hurt the state & the country is not something that the PM & UP CM endorse. “Work time should only be dedicated towards the service of people,” the Chief Minister had said. Surprise attendance checks are being carried out to keep a check on the regularity. Yogi, ever since being sworn in as the 21st CM of the state has made several reforms. He recently cancelled 15 state holidays in schools. The purpose was to revive the shrinking academic sessions.

Srikant Sharma also said that the UP CM would follow up after 100 days to see if all the directions have been followed or not. Each department has been asked to release a white paper on its functioning & a Report card on completion of 100 days of the Government. The babus must be fuming, but UP is surely rising.
