Congress, Corruption and Ex-CBI Boss! After getting sacked, corruption case to be filed against Alok Verma

On 10th January, the High Powered Selection Committee that included PM Modi, justice AK Sikri and opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge ordered to sack the CBI director Alok Kumar Verma in a split decision 2:1 where Mr Kharge was in favor of Alok Verma. This decision took place just couple of days after Verma was reinstated by supreme Court, but with conditions.

The high powered selection committee removed Mr Verma from the post over charges of corruption and dereliction. The ministry of Home Affairs said that “Shri Alok Kumar Verma, IPS (AGMU:79) is transferred from the post of Director, CBI and posted as Director General, Fire Services. Civil Defence & Home Gaurds for the residual period of his present term ending on 31.01.2019”.

This has proved to be a massive embarrassment to not just Alok Verma but even to the Congress party that was backing him. Now a report has said that corruption case will be filed against Alok Verma after the CVC report stated that he compromised the probe in several cases.

An official had said “there were eight charges against Verma in the CVC report presented before the panel which included alleged attempts to induct tainted officers, compromising probe in the case related to controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi, IRCTC scam among others”.

Soon after the CBI boss was sacked, the Congress party began to mud slinging that as Alok Verma wanted to probe the Rafale scam, he was ousted. This is a fake news because one shouldn’t forget that even a Supreme Court justice wanted to sack Verma.

The Railways minister Piyush Goyal slammed the hypocrisy of Congress party by saying “Indeed, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge is a man of amazing consistency. When Shri Alok Verma was appointed CBI chief by the selection committee, he dissented. Now, when Shri Alok Verma has been removed by the same Selection Committee, he has dissented”.

At present the charge of the CBI has been given to Additional Director M Nageshwar Rao. He is known for his work efficiency and honesty. He is an IPS officer from the Odisha cadre and is a recipient of several awards.
