Congress lawmaker Tarlochan Singh Soondh threw his shoe at Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia during protests by his party in Punjab state Assembly.
The last day of the SAD-BJP government”™s assembly session has begun in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Speaker Charanjit Atwal suspended the Question Hour, as well as two Calling Attention Notices and decided to start with the legislative business for the day. Amidst of all the chaos in the state assembly today, the Punjab government still managed to pass 12 bills in 10 minutes.
Congress is asking for the debate on no-confidence motion against SAD-BJP government. Since Monday, twenty-two Congress lawmakers have not left the assembly building as their motion was declared rejected by a voice vote. Mr Soondh and other Congress members had crowded around the Speaker’s chair demanding a debate on their no-confidence motion against the state’s Akali Dal-BJP government.
And they kept shouting slogans and creating chaos as the state government continued with the day’s business.
Disrupting the assembly business, Congress MLAs, threw papers at the assembly speaker and in the middle of this, angry Mr Soondh took off his shoe and flung it at Mr Majithia, the Revenue Minister.
Congress in turns come up defending  Tirlochan Soondh by stating, he hurled the shoe at Virsa Valtoha that hit Bikram Majithia . “He was provoked,” leader of Opposition says. “My Dalit community was abused by MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha. He was the target of my shoe,” says Congress MLA Tirlochan Singh Soondh.
This whole incident is a big setback for the pride of our Assemblies and it”™s a clear wastage of tax payer”™s money.
