Big setback to Robert Vadra! Delhi High Court served notice to him on a plea filed by the ED against the anticipatory bail given to him in a money laundering case

Since the day Prime Minister Modi has won with a huge mandate the brother-in-law of Congress Party Chief Rahul Gandhi is seeking permission to go abroad from the court. But to his bad luck the crackdown on him by the agencies has gained more speed. Instead of getting permission to go abroad he is caught in web of difficulties.

In a setback to Vadra, today Delhi High Court has served notice to him on a plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate against the anticipatory bail given to him in a money laundering case.

The ED moved to the court on Friday seeking dismissal of protection provided to Robert Vadra from arrest. The directorate told the court that the CBI judge had failed to consider the settled position of law that bail should not be “granted in a routine manner”. The agency also claimed that Vadra was non-cooperative during the inquiry, and may tamper with evidence. After which the High Court has served notice to him and sought a reply on his non cooperation with the investigation.Along with Vadra, the notice has also been served to his aide Manoj Arora. The court has directed both of them to file their response by July 17.

The Enforcement Directorate’s investigation is related to allegations that Vadra, who is Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law, used laundered money to buy real estate in the United Kingdom. Vadra appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi several times for questioning in February. The investigating agency has alleged that the property, worth £1.9 million (Rs 17.5 crore), was bought using profits from “criminal acts”.

The money was reportedly channelled through the United Arab Emirates. The investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the Black Money Act. Vadra is also under the radar of investigative agencies in the Bikaner land scam case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The time is gone when they used to commit scams and were not questioned for it. Now it is PM Modi era in which they have to be accountable for their every deed. Soon, he will have to see the doors of the jail. Prime Minister Modi has clearly indicated this when he went to Haryana during his LokSabha Election Campaigning. He said he will make sure that ‘Shahenshah’ who looted farmers, is thrown behind bars within the next five years who is now making rounds of ED and Courts for bail
