As per a report in DNA India, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis may be the next defense minister of India. After assembly elections in Goa did not give a majority to any single party, the prospects of hung house was written all over. The MLAs of Goa Forward and MGP extended the support to BJP if and only if Manohar Parrikar was appointed the Chief Minister of the state. To head the state, Manohar Parrikar resigned as the defense minister and took oath as the chief minister of Goa.
With Manohar Parrikar resigning from the post of defense minister, Arun Jaitley has been given the additional charge of the defense ministry. Zee News, referring to sources in the political circles, said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis may soon be promoted to the Central cabinet as the shuffling is on cards. Over the last two years, Fadnavis has performed exceedingly well as the chief minister of Maharashtra. He also led BJP to an amazing victory in the recently concluded civic polls in Maharashtra. The report of Fadnavis being appointed as the next defense minister was first published in Maharashtra Times, but since then the page has been removed.
If Devendra Fadnavis is appointed the next defense minister of India, the name of Maharashtra revenue minister Chandrakant Patil is doing rounds as the next chief minister of Maharashtra. However, as of now both Fadnavis and Patil have denied any such developments. Watch the complete report on Zee Business here :
