Well well it seems like the Indian Government and the CBI are into creating some serious trouble pits for the Scamsters of Punjab National Bank (PNB)! No line of excuse for the accused under the NDA rule, they will be caught hold of no matter what.
In a latest development, the CBI has announced that Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against Mehul Choksi after his trouble partner Nirav Modi, both accused in the Rs 13,500 crore PNB fraud.
The CBI had earlier secured an Interpol Red Notice against Choksi’s nephew Nirav Modi but the world police body had kept its decision pending on Choksi as he had challenged the issuance of such an order.
After seeking additional information from the CBI, the Interpol had initiated proceedings against Choksi and has now issued a Red Notice against him.
It’s been an old story and also an year old of how both Modi and Choksi left India in the first week of January and have not returned despite repeated summons from the investigation agencies and courts. Presently, Nirav is said to be in London and Choksi in Caribbean country Antigua and Barbuda. Despite repeated warnings from the Indian Government both do not seem to be returning or surrendering to the cops.
Both of these scamsters are wanted by the Enforcement Directorae (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly defrauding the PNB to the tune of Rs 14,000 crore in collusion with a few of its employees.
The CBI last month, in its charge sheets alleged Choksi swindled over Rs 7000 crore, making it the country’s biggest banking scam. Nirav Modi allegedly siphoned Rs 6000 Crore. An additional loan default of over Rs 5000 Crore to Choksi’s companies is also a matter of probe under the CBI.
Well, this will not be the first Red Corner notice against the scamsters, Interpol has already issued it against Nirav Modi’s sister, Purvi Modi, who is a Belgian National and his brother, Neeschal Modi, in connection with the PNB case again. What results will this notice bring in, is a must to be watched ahead.
