Election Commission exposes lies and false propaganda being spread by Arvind Kejriwal

After the Aam Aadmi Party’s drubbing in Punjab and Goa, Arvind Kejriwal seems to have completely lost his sanity. Not only did he question the Electronic Voting Machines, but also spread a number of lies to malign the Election Commission. In a ridiculous statement, Kejriwal said that any button pressed in EVM leads to a vote in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party. Aam Aadmi Party supremo Kejriwal had also held a press conference where he demanded that elections for Municipal Corporation Delhi be conducted by ballot papers. In a strongly worded letter to Arvind Kejriwal, the Election Commission has exposed all his lies.

After massive defeat in Punjab and Goa, Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that he lost the elections due to tampered EVMs. He even demanded that the results of the polls be tallied by Election Commission. As his nature of speaking lies is well know, Kejriwal said that Election Commission had refused his demand to tally results with paper trail audit. Now, in a letter, the EC has said that the Aam Aadmi Party is free to file an election petition in Punjab High Court  if it wants to verify votes cast in Punjab polls with data of paper trail.

The Election Commission, in its letter, also asked the Aam Aadmi Party to introspect for its loss in Punjab and Goa. The letter said, “It is upto you (Arvind Kejriwal) to introspect as to why your party could not perform as per your expectations and it is unfair on your part to attribute unsatisfactory poll performance of your party to the alleged tamperability of EVMs”. Many officials from the Election Commission and independent technical experts have time and again demonstrated that the EVMs are completely fool-proof and cannot be tampered.

In an article in The Hindu, former Chief Election Commissioner N.Gopalaswami had explained in details the working of EVMs and said that “criticisms of the reliability of the Indian electronic voting machine are unwarranted”. In the article, the former Chief Election Commissioner said that it is unfortunate that parties blame the EVMs “notwithstanding the fact that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has time and again demonstrated, through increased and transparent measures, the reliability and fool-proof nature of the EVM.” The insightful article by N.Gopalaswami can be read here.

It seems that the only thing Kejriwal knows is to blame others. After blaming Congress, Ambani, Adani, Modi and entire system, now Kejriwal is blaming Election Commission. Despite his lies getting exposed again and again, he doesn’t seem to learn any lesson.
