Congress chief Rahul Gandhi had managed to win the elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh by shamelessly lying about the Rafale Deal. Even though there was no scam in it, Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Modi would go to jail if there was a probe. These aggressive statements fooled the voters; even the BJP didn’t effectively counter the lies of Rahul Gandhi.
But the verdict of Supreme Court has crashed Rahul Gandhi’s Rafale lies. This has even created rifts in grand alliance after the Congress party demanded a JPC probe.
Rejecting the demand for JPC probe for Rafale Deal, the former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav said “The Supreme court is trusted by the people. It is supreme. We had demanded for a JPC before the SC gave out its verdict. Now that the court has given it’s judgment, we should go by what they have said”.
This has been a big embarrassment to the Congress party because soon after the Supreme Court gave the verdict that there was no scam in the Rafale Deal, the Congress party had said “If they have nothing to hide, I challenge Modi ji and his government to submit to a JPC probe which will question and go into the corruption in the defence deal”.
To add to the woes of Congress party, even the Dassault Aviation has come out with a statement saying:
- Dassault Aviation welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court of India rendered today dismissing all petitions filed on the Rafale Contract signed on 23rd September 2016 in the frame of an Inter-Governmental Agreement between India and France. Dassault Aviation takes note of the Supreme Court conclusions establishing the absence of any irregularities in the decision making process to purchase 36 Rafale, pricing of Rafale jets and selection of Indian offset partners including Anil Ambani owned Reliance by Dassault Division.
