It looks extremely hilarious when few of the media houses accuse others of peddling fake news. On 26th April, financial website moneycontrol.com reported that “Tripura CM Biplab Deb has been accused of domestic violence by his wife, after which she has filed for divorce in the Tiz Hazari court of New Delhi”.
When the news was broke, the nation was stunned to hear this allegation on the chief minister of Tripura. Later on The Quint, propaganda website that had peddled fake news on several occasions, reported “Tripura CM Biplab Deb’s wife, Niti Deb, has accused him of harassment and sexual violence”.
Another propaganda website Janta Ka Reporter stated “Embarrassment for BJP as Tripura CM Biplab Deb’s wife alleges domestic violence and harassment files for divorce in Delhi”. Later on it changed the headline to “Tripura CM Biplab Deb files for divorce in Delhi, claims CNBC-TV18, deletes earlier tweet claiming allegations of domestic violence by Niti Deb”.

But it didn’t take much time to debunk the lies. The above websites claimed that Tripura CM Biplab Deb’s wife sought divorce due to domestic violence. But in reality, all the claims of these media houses were proved to be fake.
Busting this fake news, Biplab Deb’s wife Niti Deb said on Facebook “Rumors have no mouth. Only dirty, filthy and sick minds generate for cheap publicity and mileage and importantly when paid high for spreading such dirty rumours to gain political advantage against influential people”.
She added “I’m boudi, daughter in law, mother, sister and wife of someone belong to our State, they not just try to tarnish my image but disrespected the love, affection and respect given to me by people of Tripura. My humble request not provoke nor react on evil heads cheap fake Rumors. Regards”.
As it is the election season, such sort of fake news can be anticipated by the Indians.
