Father Kuriakose, key witness against Bishop Franco in Nun rape case found dead under mysterious circumstance! Family says it is a murder

What you heard is right. The priest who was strongly speaking against the Bishop Franco–who is accused of raping the nun 13 times– has been found dead under mysterious circumstance in St. Mary’s Church in Dasuya in Jalandhar.

Yes, father Kuriakose Kattuthara who was in his late 60s has been found dead today and his family has suspected that the father had been killed for giving a statement against Bishop Franco Mulakkal. They smell a strong conspiracy by a certain powerful lobby.

Today morning few nuns had knocked on Father Kuriakose’s door but there was no response from him. That’s why the Nuns went to perish and returned back with another pastor. And when the door was opened, Father Kuriakose lying on the floor. Even though the father was rushed to government hospital, there was no use.

It should be noted that the Father Kuriakose was the only bishop who had supported the Missionaries of Jesus nun in their fight against Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who is accused of raping the the nun 13 times.

Kuriakose’s brother Jose Kattuthara told that Fr Kuriakose was constantly receiving threat for giving statement against Bishop Franco. He also said that even the church officials had threatened him. What was another shocking thing is, father Kuriakose had revealed to his brother Jose that his life was under threat.

Days before dying, father Kuriakose had himself said that “The sisters had approached me complaining about Bishop Franco. They did not approach the Kerala police fearing the bishop. In fact, I fear what will happen to me for speaking out against him”.

Sister Anupama, who had led the protests against Bishop Franco said “We are very shocked to hear this news. Father Kuriakose has taught me and he was part of our parish as well. He was a crucial witness in our case as he had given statements against Bishop Franco to the police. I haven’t been in touch with him but I had heard from other priests that he had been facing a lot of pressure of late, with many in the church pointing fingers at him. We feel the circumstances of his death are suspicious and may affect our case against Bishop Franco”.

Presently, the rape accused Father Franco is out on bail and he had even received a hero’s welcome with rose petals and garlands after he returned to church. This was indeed a shocking development. The claim of the family members of Father Kuriakose should be respected and a rigid investigation should be carried out.
