It’s a big win for RSS backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). After a gap of eight long years, ABVP created historical record by winning 2018-19 University of Hyderabad Students Union (UoH SU) elections
The ABVP swept all the major posts of the university’s election giving a big jolt to Communist Party of India (Marxist)-backed Students Federation of India (SFI) or the Ambedkarite students groups led by the Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) or an alliance of both these organizations which has been dominating elections since last eight years
Not only the election is historical in terms of winning but also hold importance in the aspect as the election results also saw for the second time in university’s history, a woman become the President of Students Union, after 2013.
Aarti Nagpal, a PhD Psychology student grabbed the post of UoH SU president by a good margin of 334 votes over her nearest rival, Erram Naveen Kumar of the SFI. All the posts have been bagged by ABVP. The posts of Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Sports Secretary and Cultural Secretary were grabbed by Amit Kumar, Dheeraj Sangoji, Praveen Chouhan, Aravind S Kumar and Nikhil Raj K.
The ABVP had joined hands with two other student groups — other backward Classes Federation (OBCF) and the newly formed Seva Lal Vidyarthi Dal to contest the student body polls this year whereas SFI went alone and ASA had contested in alliance with six other student organizations.
The victory comes two years after the unrest on the campus following the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula in January 2016. Vemula had committed suicide on January 17, 2016, after alleged caste-based discrimination on the campus.
The ABVP based its campaign mostly on issues based on campus related problems, mainly of poor food quality in the hostel mess, poor sanitation in hostels and improving gender-sensitivity in the campus whereas both the SFI and United Democratic Alliance(UDA), the ASA-led alliance, had based their election campaign on the premise that with Bharatiya Janata Party in power at the centre, if the ABVP comes to power they will not oppose policies by central government if they are harmful for the students, as both BJP and ABVP are backed by RSS.
It is second major win by ABVP after its recent win in the Delhi University Elections which was once the strong fort of NSUI. In Delhi University elections, the students’ wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has won 3 out of 4 seats defeating NSUI, AAP and the left party unions.
The trend continuing these days clearly show that the choice of people at this time is ABVP, RSS and BJP which clearly points toward BJP is going to win big in the upcoming election. No body can stop BJP from coming to power. People believe in development more than the fake propagandas of communists and left dividing the nation on the basis of caste, colour and creed.
More power to BJP for the upcoming elections!Phir ek baar modi Sarkar. Har Bar Modi Sarkar , Bar bar Modi Sarkar
