Probably no other country in the world would insult martyrs and freedom fighters as Indian politicians do. While every other country would go to any extent to uphold the names of those men and women who sacrificed their lives for the country, here we are calling the young revolutionary activists who gave nightmare to British as terrorists.
Earlier it was the Delhi University which had named the legend Bhagat Singh as revolutionary terrorists in History text books. Now, West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee has joined the band to call Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki as terrorists in class 8th text books. A history chapter titled “revolutionary terrorism” describes the activities of freedom fighters like Shahid Khudiram Bose, Jatindranath Mukherjee and Prafulla Chaki as “extremism and terrorism” (India Today Report).
The move has lead to a massive controversy with Historians questioning the move of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for deliberately misleading children with distorted facts. They said that such stance taken by the Bengal government shows that they are only helping British who called our freedom fighters terrorists. India Today Report
“Those who are using such terminology for great freedom fighters like Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki are anti-nationals. Would you call Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose a terrorist too? These people are not only distorting facts, but damaging the rich tradition of our freedom movement,” said Atish Dasgupta, a well-known historian.
But irony is some of those Historians who were selected by the state government have defended the stand saying that the words were used as they are purely factual and to give an impression of the reality of that time.
It is unfortunate that a man who gave his life for the country at the age of only 18 years is now being called a terrorist to please a section of people in the name of appeasement politics. This is a open secret that Mamata Banerjee is silently trying to brainwash the minds of young children with such fake stories and ultimately remove the concept of patriotism and Nationalism from the minds of people.
The Education board of West Bengal had earlier tried such gimmicks to implement leftist agenda by ridiculing the Indian culture and traditions. This is nothing but a part of a bigger conspiracy to disconnect the present generation from the Indian history and rewrite a fake theory according to their political convenience.
The sad part is Indians still remain mute spectators looking at this injustice done to the great sons of the soil. The question which bothers the most is, did Indians really deserve people like Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad or Khudiram Bose. Indians were probably happy to be slaves under the British rule saluting them and their queen!
