The journey of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been quite interesting. From launching its rocket on bicycle to becoming carrier for transporting satellites of other countries it has covered a long developmental path.
It was the year 1963, when Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched its first rocket from Thumba Equatorial Launching Station. The rocket was transported to lift-off pad on a bicycle. At that time ISRO did not even have a vehicle to carry its rocket.
The second rocket, which was launched after sometime in 1981, was a little bigger and heavier and it was transported in a bullock cart for the lift-off.
The Nehru-Gandhi family led Congress Government was rich enough to celebrate their birthday parties in the airplanes but was having neither vehicle to give to space agency ISRO to carry rockets and satellites of India nor any money to give them so that vehicle could be taken on rent.
The government was having money for the luxuriousness of the dignitaries of Congress but for giving to ISRO their hands were empty. If they would have paid attention to the need of our scientists then the rockets and satellites would not have been loaded on bicycle and carts.
Today the people of Congress make huge loud and cry about development. But do they really know what development is? Do they know how a nation can be developed? This instance clearly reflects how much concerned the Congress is with the needs of the nation. How could they understand and solve the problems of the poor of the nation with which they are not familiar even when they were not able to do anything for the visible need of our scientists?
Listening development world from the mouth of Congress is like an atheist offering prayers to God. Doesn’t the Congress feel ashamed at that time when the leaders of their party used to roam in the airplanes and our scientist used to take ISRO’s equipment on bicycle and bullock cart.
The contribution of the Nehru- Gandhi family in the development of the country is zero. Instead of looting the nation what they have done for the nation? It’s our good fortune that we are having scientists like Vikram Sarbhai, Homii Baba, Abdul Kalam Azad and the Prime Ministers like Lal Bahadur Shastri, Narasimha Rao, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi whose erudition, hard work and will power are the reasons that nation is on the path of development.
That was the time and today is the time when in the field of space research, India has even overtaken NASA of America. All the countries are astonishingly watching the achievements of ISRO today. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle(PSLV) of ISRO has created history by carrying 104 satellites to space in a single launch.
Our space agency has helped US to launch its satellite from India’s Launchpad, it being the 20th country which seeked India’s help for launching its satellite. Earlier, also ISRO has launched 45 satellites for 19 countries. The heaviest commercial launch was also undertaken by India when it launched British satellites worth 1,440 kg.
Besides, the 100 days Mangalyaan Mission of ISRO made India the first country to taste success in its maiden Mars mission. The launch of India’s 4th navigational satellite using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Sriharikota on March 28, 2015, helped the country to have its own version of the Global Positioning System (GPS), useful in everyday life for navigation. Having an accuracy of less than 20 meters, this system is comparable to the best in the world
Many developed countries weren’t able to digest the success of ISRO and made fun of the nation. The New York Times, one of the prestigious American daily newspaper published the Cartoon in their newspaper making fun of India’s success where a farmer with a cow knocking at the door of a room marked Elite Space Club was shown.
But the same newspaper New York times later on accepted the power and real strength of Indian space research organization (ISRO) when India launched 104 satellites in one go and commented “by sending a flock of 104 satellites into space within minutes, nearly tripling the previous record for single-day satellite launches, establishes India as a “key player” in a growing commercial market for space-based surveillance and communication”
“The launch was high-risk because the satellites, released in rapid-fire fashion every few seconds from a single rocket as it travelled at 17,000 miles an hour, could collide with one another in space if ejected into the wrong path”. And then it also published another cartoon afterwards where the Indian farmer is sitting in the elite space club office and other developed nation standing outside the office and knocking.
The same developed nation and people that was once making fun of India due to its carrying of satellites on bicycle are now standing in front of nation knocking ISRO’s doors to launch their satellites by our rocket. This is the power of the India and ISRO.
As they say “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” and from that time Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) improved continuously from launching small rocket in 1963 to discovering water on moon, cheapest Mangalyaan mission and launching 104 satellite in one go on a single rocket.
ISRO is touching the skies today and along with it the nation. The full credit of this achievement goes to our hardworking and nation loving scientists. The journey of ISRO was difficult, but the scientists never lost the patience. Even with great difficulties, they reached such heights. ISRO’s success is a lesson for all those who underestimate the intelligence of India and its scientists.
A big salute to the scientists of ISRO who has sacrificed their everything to make the nation proud in the world by achieving such great heights. You are the true hero of our country.
