Clearly rattled by PM Modi’s demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, which has hit the corrupt very hard, opposition parties seem to have totally lost their senses. Today, during the discussion in Rajya Sabha on the issue of demonetisation, the senior Congress leader from Jammu & Kashmir Shri Gulam Nabi Azad made an extremely distasteful and controversial remark, which led to a massive uproar in the house. Ultimately, his statements were EXPUNGED from the records.
During the debate on demonetisation in Rajya Sabha, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad compared the unfortunate deaths of people due to standing in long queues for ATMs, banks, post-offices with the Uri Martyrs. He said just like the government policies led to the murder of these 40 people. Her added that even Pakistani terrorists had killed 19 soldiers in Uri and more number of people have died standing in queue due to govt policies.
The controversial remark led to huge uproar from the members of ruling parties. Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitely made strong exceptions to Azad’s statements and demanded an unconditional apology. Parliamentary affairs minister Shri Ananth Kumar said, “Such remarks are atrocious, anti-national and insult to the martyrs. Therefore we demand an unconditional apology from Azad to the people of India. It shows frustration and desperation of the Congress’s top leadership following the positive response from the public to the demonetisation move. Azad has not only insulted the martyrs of Uri attack but in a way has also given a certificate to Pakistan sponsored terrorists,“.
The remarks were EXPUNGED (deleted) from the records of the Rajya Sabha !
