In a big setback to Congress, National Commission for Minorities has sent notice to Rahul Gandhi’s close aide Sam Pitroda on his insensitive comments he recently gave on “1984 Sikh genocide”
The Congress leader when asked about the “1984 Sikh Genocide” said “1984 Happened, So What?” He made this outrageous statement while responding on the BJP’s claim citing the Nanavati commission report that the instructions for the violence had come from late Rajiv Gandhi who had taken up the post of Prime Minister after his mother Indira Gandhi was assassinated.
Attacking the Nanavati commission report, Sam Pitroda stated “I don’t think so, this is also another lie, and what is with 1984? You speak about what happened in 5 years. It happened in 1984, so what? (1984 hua toh hua) ”.
This led to huge outrage all over nation. Later when the party realized that biggest blunder has been created it took a U-turn. Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi said that he doesn’t agree to Sam Pitroda’s words and Pitroda should seek forgiveness from the nation.
In the notice served by the National Commission for Minorities the commission has asked Pitroda to tender an unconditional apology to the Sikh community over his insensitive comments.
The notice was sent based on a complaint made to the Commission by BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga. Commission member, Atif Rasheed sent a notice to Pitroda asking him to explain his remarks. The letter sent to Pitroda by the National Commission of Minorities read that Pitroda’s statement has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and could cause a further rift between two communities.
The letter stated, “As NCM is constituted as a statutory body by an Act of Parliament and is empowered to look into specific complaints regarding deprivation of rights and safeguards of minorities, it has taken the complaint very seriously as Sikhs are one of the notified minority communities in India and the incident of 1984 massacre is a blot in the history of mankind.”
How much U-turn Congress take and provide justifications that the comment was not intended to that but the party can’t run away from their bad karmas of killing so many innocent Sikhs
