Is India Prepared for a Nuclear War???

The Delhi Police has planned the creation of a control room that could secure data & communication against an attack using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) such as nuclear, chemical & biological. The underground control center would be capable of withstanding any radiation or thermal attack for up to seven days.

There exists a perception of vulnerability of important communications & data networks in case of airborne attacks in the capital city. The Modi Government is expected to approve the creation of underground communication & data control rooms in New Delhi & a few other major Indian cities.

The Delhi Police has identified two locations in Delhi for the first phase of the initiative. Sources say that senior officials & concerned departments are in the process of preparing the initial plan for setting up an underground data control room, the proposal of which will be sent to the central government. The basic aim behind such a move is to ensure proper communication & data security during an attack.

A recently held security review meeting discussed the necessity of secure data communication networks center. The idea is at an initial stage. We are preparing a detailed report then we would be able to share details only at a later stage,” said an official.

The underground facility would be based on our indigenously developed ‘Reinforced Hardened Shelter’. The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) developed this system last year for protection of the Indian Armed Forces from nuclear, chemical & biological attacks.

This move also illustrates the fact the India is not taking the disintegration of Pakistan as a state & the fact that it possesses nuclear weapons lightly. Also what’s interesting is that this news was first brought to light by Sputnik – online news & radio broadcast service established by the Russian government-controlled news agency Rossiya Segodnya. This can be seen as a small but significant indication that Russia & India are growing closer. Also when Prime Minister Modi had visited Russia he had been to such a facility. So it won’t be of any surprise if India had availed Russia’s help in getting together the plan for these underground bunkers.
