In a massive embarrassment to media baron Raghav Bahl, his houses in Noida have been raided by the Income Tax department on complaints of tax evasion. Raghav Bahl was the former promoter of Network 18 after which he started his own online portal called the Quint which is well knwon for its left leaning and pro Congress tag.
Many times before the Quint has been accused of spreading fake and false information especially against India, Hindu culture and Modi government which had earned them huge criticism. But now, in another major embarrassment, the founder Raghav Bahl has been accused of evading tax due to which his house in Noida was raided by Income Tax department. According to the reports, the Quint office of his was also raided in the early hours.
PTI reported a team of sleuths raided the residence of Bahl in neighbouring Noida early morning and are looking for documents and other evidence related to the case under probe.
It is understood that the searches are being conducted at the premises of a few other people as part of the ITD action to probe tax evasion by a set of business professionals. This is a developing story and will be updated as and when we receive more information.
The DNA reported that currently the accounts section of the Quint officers were being questioned and the statement of Raghav Bahl was also being recorded. The editor in chief of the Quint Ritu Kapoor has refused to make any statements regarding the raids.
As of now, there has been no information regarding what are the documents seized from Raghav Bahl’s house and office. The media people who think they can question anyone on corruption should first question themselves as to what morality they have?! Those who were talking about fake corruption charges on Modi government have themselves trapped in tax evasion case.
It is a shame that these journalists are indulged in tax evasion and pose themselves as saints.
