Key notes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Independence Day

A very Happy Independence day wishes to all our readers.

Every festival in India will have a beautiful ritual, this festival of independence too is marked by unfurling of tricolur and prime minister’s address to the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the nation on 72nd anniversary of India’s Independence from the historic Red Fort.

This is Prime Minister’s fifth Independence Day address since NDA came to power in 2014.

Here are the key points from PM’s independence day speech.

  1. On social justice
  • PM lauded the successful Rajyasabha and loksabha sessions. He said recently concluded Parliament session witnessed the passage of the Bill to create an OBC Commission. The parliment was devoted for the purpose of social justice.
  • PM announced launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan on 25th September this year. He said It is high time to make the good quality and affordable Healthcare accessible to the poor.
  • September 25, marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. PM opined-this healthcare initiatives of the Government of India will have a positive impact on 50 crore Indians. He emphasisized need to free the poor of India from the clutches of poverty due to which they cannot afford healthcare.
  • If we can completely abolish practice of Sati, it is possible to abolish triple talaq too said the PM. PM took a dig at Opposition who opposed the Muslim women protection bill and said-

“The practice of Triple Talaq has caused great injustice among Muslim women. We are trying to end this practice but there are some people who are not wanting it to end. I ensure the Muslim women that I will work to ensure justice is done to them.”

PM also stated that Women officers commissioned in short service will get opportunity for permanent commission like their male counterparts. And it will be a great step towards achieving gender equality.

PM Modi mentioned the three women judges in Supreme Court, delivering justice. And also mentioned his cabinet which has most number of women in cabinet since independence.

  1. On sacrifices of freedom fighters

PM paid tribute to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their everything for the sake of nation and he said on behalf of the country he bow down in respect before

these great men and women.

PM had a special mention  to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

“Next year on Vaisakhi, it will be the 100th anniversary of the massacre in Jallianwala Bagh. I remember the martyrs of the country in this massacre and pay my respect to them.” he said.

  1. On recent floods in the country

PM Modi addressed the people affected by the flood in various part of India. He spoke of providing all the necessary aid to fight this natural disaster.

  1. On India’s space mission

PM Modi congratulated the efforts of scientists of India for their very successful space programs. He said, he is confident that by 2022, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, India will unfurl the tri-colour in the space.

  1. A special mention to Sri. Subramania Bharati vision of India

The great Tamil poet,  optimistic Subramania Bharati had said that India will not only rise as a great nation, but will also inspire the others. PM Modi opined that India will show the way to the entire world to unshackle the bonds.

  1. On India’s agricultural sector- beej se bazaar tak approach

PM spoke of bringing significant changes in the agricultural sector through implementation of modern technologies. He said,The aim is to double farmer incomes by 2022.

By providing all necessary support to the farmers from buying seeds to selling crops, PM wishes to achieve remarkable growth in farming sector. He said,

“The demand for higher MSP was pending for years. From farmers to political parties to agriculture experts, everybody was

asking about it but nothing happened. With the blessings of the farmers, the decision on MSP was taken by our Government.”

  1. On progress of the Indian economy and development

“Prior to 2014, several of the world’s acclaimed organizations and economists used to term India as ‘high-risk economy’, these are the same people who are now praising us for our reforms.” PM Modi said.

He added it is always essential to look back at the journey of a nation and the hurdles it has crossed and strides it has taken to feel proud of what it has achieved.

“From being seen as among the fragile five, India is now the land of reform, perform and transform. We are in for a record economic growth.” he said.

On Swaccha bharath and rural electification

PM Modi said, post 2013 the pace at which building toilets and providing electricity to even the remotest village is remarkable. If the works were supposed to happen in the same speed as before 2013 it would have taken a decade to achieve the goal.

“if we take 2013 as the base line, you will be surprised at the speed at which the country is progressing.” he added.

“India’s voice is being heard effectively at the world stage. We are integral parts of forums whose doors were earlier closed for us.”

  1. On sexual violence against women

PM Modi called said we have to free our society and country from the disgusting mentality of rape.

PM mentioned Recent incident in Madhya Pradesh where a rapist was hanged by fast track court. He said it is important to spread this message and make people aware. The law of the land is supreme and we must ensure Justice is delivered.

  1. On various government policies and schemes, PM said,

“Thirteen crore ‘mudra loans’, in which four crore people took loan for the first time, is a testimony of a changing India.As significant as economic growth, is dignity of the individual. Our schemes such as Ujjwala and Saubhagya Yojana are enhancing the dignity of fellow Indians.”

PM thanked the business community for the success of the GST.

Swachh Bharat mission, has achieved to keep lakhs of children disease free, they can lead healthier lives.

the WHO has praised Swaccha bharath mission.

PM Said –

” Mahatma Gandhi led the Satyagrahis to freedom. Today, the Swachhagrahis have to ensure a Swachh Bharat.”

  1. And most importantly On Kashmir, he said

“We do not follow the path of abuse and bullet. We believe in idea of embrace. For J&K, Atalji had proposed the idea of – Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jhamooriyat. I too say this – every problem of J&K can only be solved by embracing peace. Our government is committed for the development of all regions and sections of the state.

One nation, one constitution is a reality now”

PM Modi had a beautiful rendetion at the end of his speech,

“we shall write our own destiny, we are bringing change in the country,

This is new age, this is new Bharath,

We have progressing forward with a strong determination, dedicating ourselves to the mission, yes we are adamant, to see a new dawn, to scale beyond skies and to create a new India, yes we will have a new india”.
