Though the queues in banks, post-offices and ATMs have considerably shortened up as compared to the long queues that were visible a week ago, this initiative by Big Bazaar is all set to provide even more convenience to the citizens. From 24 November, you can withdraw Rs 2000 from every outlet of Big Bazar and its fashion outlet FBB by swiping debit cards. This facility will be available at 258 Big Bazaar and FBB outlets across 115 cities in India. A few days back, petrol pumps also started this facility where anyone can swipe his card and withdraw Rs 2000. This will relieve the strain on overburdened ATMs and bank branches, thereby reducing the queues.
Kishore Biyani, the chairman of Future Retail Limited which owns Big Bazaar and FBB, said – “We are trying hard to ease any difficulties faced by customers due the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes and support the government’s initiative in meeting its objective. Now with customers being able to withdraw cash at Big Bazaar stores, they are welcome to visit our stores instead of queuing up at banks and ATMs.”
People having any ATM or debit card can withdraw upto Rs 2000 by swiping their cards at the cash counters of Big Bazaar. All restrictions as applied by the Reserve Bank of India and Finance Ministry will apply in case of withdrawal from Big Bazaar. Once again, it has been State Bank of India which has played a major role by allowing Big Bazaar to use the cash of SBI for this process ! After more than 20,000 petrol pumps it is time to thank Big Bazaar for this innovative idea to help people in this time.
