As many as 27 district council or Zilla Parishads and 212 municipal councils in Maharashtra went to polls, Maharashtra chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lead an aggressive campaign for elections to 164 Municipal councils spread over 25 districts on 27th November. In Maharashtra, even as Demonetization and the consequent currency crisis play out in rural Maharashtra, CM Maharashtra hit the campaign hard (BJP) campaign for the municipal council polls in the state. We find the impact of Demonetization, particularly on farmers and the farm supply chain, Mr. Fadnavis has sought to link the currency ban with nationalism. The better part of BJP’s Election campaign under Fadnavis’s leadership has kept to only development agenda. The party also looking to exploit the direct elections for Municipal council presidents to challenge the Congress-Nationalist (NCP) dominance in Maharashtra’s smaller cities & townships.
The Maharashtra Panchayat (civic) Elections are eminent and significant because of their role and functions which are performed by these bodies at the grass root level. Maharashtra Civic Local Body Municipal Election Result 2016 –
The polling session will be conducted in four phases. The first is on 27th of November, second and third on 14th& 18 the of December, & the final phase will be held in 8th of January next year. The Electronic voting machine (EVM) are used for Election, and has taken all steps to conduct election in fair & peaceful manner. The Municipal Election sessions in the state of Maharashtra has always been full of excitement & exhilaration. This is because the state of Maharashtra possesses a number of political elements that are always in battlefield to become the game changers. The Competent parties are BJP, Shiv Sena, Indian National Congress, National Congress Party (NCP), Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena. Counting of votes began this morning in the election to 147 municipal councils & 17 nagar panchayats across 25 districts in Mahrashtra, seen also as Litmus test for Mahrashtra Government. As many as 15,826 candidates are contesting for 3,705 seats spread over the Municipal councils & Nagar Panchayats, where voting was held on 27th November, in the first phase around 70 % of the electorate exercising its franchise. No nominations were from Shiral Nagar Panchayats in Sangli District, while 28 candidates were elected unopposed. Counting of Votes began at 10 AM, Polling also held for Municipal council president post in 147 places for which 1,013 candidates in the race.Issues like DeMonetization, farm distress, improvement in rural infrastructure and caste tensions due to Morcha by Various communities in the run up to the polls were the main issues. While BJP & ShivSena had tied up for the polls, the opposition congress & NCP did not announce formally any Alliance.
BJP projected Development as its main Agenda during the campaign, Mr. Fadnavis hailed the DeMonetization move as a major attack on black money. The Congress highlighted the hardships being faced by the poor & common man due to Demonetization among other issues. According to state Election Commission & CEO Maharashtra Elections to Legislative Maharashtra Nagar Parishad Palika Panchayat Election result has been declared.

BJP snatches power from Congress after 50 years in Solapur moving towards Vikas agendas. BJP wins Ballarpur Nagar Palika, Shiv Sena wins Barshi Nagar Palika, Congress has won 19 Municipal elections till now, NCP & BJP have bagged 17 nagar palikas, while the Shiv Sena has 14. Harish sharma of BJP wins Ballarpur Nagar Palika.
At 3.15 PM Nagaradhyaksha: BJP –39 Won, Party position – BJP –455, SS – 187, NCP—231, Cong—333 & others 100. We find that BJP becomes No.1 party in Local bodies election getting 334 seats 1st time in 50 yrs Congress voted out in Solapur, Ahmednagar. Counting of votes began at 10AM, Polling was also held for Municipal council presidents post in 147 places, for which 1,013 candidates are in the race. The polls were being viewed as’Mini ‘Assembly Elections and a test of popularity of CM Devendra Fadnavis Who led the BJP campaign to make inroads in the rural areas where congress & NCP hold sway.
This is for the first time that Presidents of Municipal Councils will be directly elected by the people. There is a clean sweep in local civic body election fought based on Development Agendas. Maharashtra Municipal Council polls;
Total Seats declared 2501 (BJP 610, SS 482, INC 408, MNS 12, BSP 4, others 583). Ram Madhav Tweeted; “Results of by polls held at the peak of Demonetization on Maharashtra Elections (local bodies) prove BJP’s growing popularity”.
Maharashtra paved way for progress and echoed our PM Modi’s agenda of Vikas which was well articulated by CM of Maharashtra in His Local Municipal elections especially penetrated in rural areas. We find in Maharashtra BJP has won in the Maximum number of seats, this not only shows the support of BJP but also CM MrDevendra Fadnavis’s popularity as leader & acceptance of Demonetization by PM Modi by people of Mahrashtra.

Previously BJP got 298 seats, clearly BJP is No.1, acceptance level is grown, vote share is grown, People have accepted Vikas is the need of the hour.
