If you think that the Indian Naval Ships are used only for guarding the maritime boundaries, then you are wrong. You will be stunned to know that one of the richest dynasty of India had used the Indian Naval Ships as taxis during their vacations.
During a high voltage election rally in Delhi, PM Modi revealed that when Rajiv Gandhi was India’s Prime Minister, Indian Navy Ships were used as personal taxi by him. PM Modi stated “Ever imagined that a premier warship of the Indian armed forces could be used as a taxi for a personal holiday? One dynasty did it”.
Exposing the Bofors scam accused, PM Modi added “INS Viraat was insulted by using it as a personal taxi. This happened when Rajiv Gandhi and his family was out for a 10-day vacation. INS Viraat was deployed for securing our maritime boundary. But it was diverted to take the Gandhi family which was out for a vacation. After picking up the Gandhi family, INS Viraat halted at an island for 10 days”.
This is absolutely a stunning revelation and it proves how the Congress party had compromised national security for personal gains. Stressing on this point, PM Modi intensified his attack on the Gandhi dynasty by saying “Rajiv Gandhi was accompanied by his in-laws who had come from Italy. Question is whether the security of the country was not compromised by taking foreigners onboard a warship”.
Soon after PM Modi brought out the past dark secrets of Rajiv Gandhi, reports emerged on how Nehru had used Indian Navy warships for vacationing. In June 1950, then PM Jawaharlal Nehru along with Indira Gandhi, young Rajiv and Sanjay Gandhi vacationed aboard INS Delhi, during their voyage to Indonesia.
