On 75th Quit India Movement celebration, PM Modi shared his plans for 2022; But Sonia Gandhi as usual resorted to target BJP in her speech

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the quit India movement, honorable minister of India, Narendra Modi urged the nation to free from corruption, poverty, terrorism, casteism and communalism, and to create a “New India” by 2022.He spoke in the Lok Sabha and said, “the quit India movement was the last people’s movement, which resulted in a massive development for the independence of the nation. It’s important for the youth to know about historical events.”

“Gandhi’s ideology created a sentiment like never before and as a result the nation finally attained independence with his efforts too. People followed his call “Do  or Die”.”

“From 2017 to 2022, when India turns 75, we need to create the same spirit that existed from 1942 to 1947. And, I am asking Indians to work towards creating a ‘new India’ by 2022, which is better than present India.” he added.

Highlights of the legend’s speech!

  • We remember the quit India movement and we salute every man and women who participated in the quit India movement led by mahatma Gandhi. Remembering such movements of freedom fight gives us strength as a nation.
  • It’s important for the youth to know about historical events.
  • The movement marked the rise of a new leadership for the nation.
  • The British never expected such huge movement in 1942. So many leaders went to jail and tortured by police officers.
  • The Indian freedom struggle witnessed the inner fire of every Indian over several years.
  • Even though, there were so many ups and down in the movement, the 1942 led to the realization that “If not now, then never”.

  • When this movement launched by Gandhi, everyone was a part of it and no corned left untouched by the fire of patriotism.
  • Our freedom wasn’t only about our country. It was a defining movement in bringing an end to colonialism in other parts of the world too.
  • Today, we don’t have Gandhi and we are lack of one fine leadership like him. But, 125 crore people have the belief that if we work together, we can fulfil the dreams of those fighters.
  • Few dreams of Gandhiji have left behind for the decades. Once, the clarion call was ‘Do or die’, but today, it is “will do and definitely will do.”

He praised Gandhi ji and the leaders of freedom fight. A number of events are being planned to mark the occasion. He said that this year’s theme is “Sankalp se Siddhi – the attainment through resolve”. He termed the month August as a “Month of revolution.”

Also, Congress president Sonia Gandhi took a jibe at RSS and BJP. She said, “We will not allow the idea of India to be a prisoner to narrow mindedness and communal ideology. Gandhi and Nehru went to jail for long days and some didn’t return from jail. Today, it looks secularism and free speech are in danger. If we have to preserve freedom, we’ll have to defeat forces endangering it. We can’t and we won’t allow sectarian forces to succeed.”

At the end, she hailed “Jai Hind” and signed off.

Sonia didn’t mention any organisations as “Forces of darkness”, but, it was direct hit to RSS and BJP though.

Today, the Lok Sabha witnessed the spirit and the glory of Indian independence by hailing the leaders who achieved freedom in the country and invoked their struggle and sacrifice.
