Subramanian Swamy has made a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and filed a complaint in the home ministry requesting an inquiry into the British company for which Rahul Gandhi is the owner.
Dr Swamy who produced the documents claims that Rahul Gandhi had signed as a British Citizen in the registration forms of the company. The British company called Backops Limited, was floated by Rahul Gandhi in London in the year 2003, in which he has produced documents declaring himself as a British Citizen.
The Indian Nationality Law : Article 9 of Indian Constitution says that a person who voluntarily acquires citizenship of any other country is no longer an Indian citizen. Also, according to The Passports Act, a person has to surrender his/her Indian passport and vote card and other Indian ID cards must not use after other country citizenship. It is a punishable offence if the person fails to surrender the passport.
Rahul Gandhi had clearly committed a crime and it is a prima facie case in which Rahul Gandhi can be stripped off his Indian citizenship immediately and termination of his Lok Sabha seat. Dr Swamy said “As you can see from the company Annual Return (on Page 6 bottom of the enclosed document) that Mr. Rahul Gandhi has given his date of birth correctly but has declared himself to be of British nationality with a United Kingdom address at 51 Southgate Street, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 9EH.” Rahul Gandhi in the year 2009 has dissolved the company in which he had again claimed as a British Citizen.
In the year 2015, Dr Swamy brought this issue to the notice of Lok Sabha speaker after which Sumitra Mahajan ordered Ethics Committee to probe the matter and demanded a response from Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi had dodged the question and provided vague answer that he is an Indian citizen and no one can question about that.

The home ministry must probe the matter and take immediate action against Rahul Gandhi for holding dual citizenship.
