Few days ago Congress party president declared that he is ready to become Prime Minister of the country if his party won enough seats in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. This is the second time Rahul Gandhi has spoken on these lines.
Previously in September last year, Rahul Gandhi, while responding to a question from the audience at the Berkley University in the US, had said that he was “absolutely ready” to be the prime ministerial candidate of the Congress party in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He also said that may be you will laugh at me but one thing is sure that there is very less probability of BJP forming a government in 2019 and PM Narendra Modi’s coming back to power.
The President of the Congress said BJP will lose in 2019 because the opposition has become united today. Everyone in politics wants to throw BJP out. This is no longer a tactical political fight but a fight against ideology that everyone will come together against.
But seems like opposition does not agrees to the ideology of the Congress President and his remark of becoming the Prime Minister. The opposition has made it very clear that this is not going to happen.
Days before Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav reacting to statement of Congress Prime Minister said that the name of prime minister can only be decided after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In a clear indication that his party is not keen on backing Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as the PM face at the moment the SP leader said that even though he has good relations with him, the Lok Sabha poll results will ultimately inform the decision on PM candidature.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, Mr Sharad Pawar has also cautioned Congress president Rahul Gandhi on his recent remarks on his chances of taking up the Prime Minister’s post. Mr Pawar said that though there is a wind of change blowing in the country, it was too early to talk about the Prime Minister’s post. He further said as of now, I can say that the trend of elections is good for change. But that doesn’t mean that one can start counting seats and numbers that they could get. There is a Marathi proverb about this hastiness. I would only say that let the numbers come, only then can we discuss the issue.
And today another leader in opposition again slammed Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said the Congress President can think whatever he wants to, but it doesn’t seem that Congress party is going to get majority on their own. “He is free to give his opinion. But the fact is, in the present situation of the country, the Congress can never have a majority of its own, ” she said . Instead, Ms Banerjee said, the federal front that she and other regional parties promote, will be “the future”.
“Various regional parties will emerge victorious in their respective states. Federal Front of regional parties is the future. If regional parties come together and form a platform, it would be good for the country,” she said
So it is very clear from the statement of Opposition leaders that nobody is in favour of the Congress President being the Prime Minister. No opposition party wants it and will not let this happen at any cost. Congress President have to give his dream of being the Prime Minister of Nation because if the united alliance of opposition will be formed against PM Modi Government it would not allow the dynasty rule of Congress party to proceed further as they very well know Congress President Rahul Gandhi is another name of defeat.
