Superstar Rajinikanth’s entry in Tamil Nadu state politics is being speculated by media houses across the nation. BJP president Amit Shah told India Today that ‘any good person’ was welcome to the party. The BJP president however made it clear that the party’s top command had no idea if the superstar would really join the party.
After Jayalalitha’s sudden demise, Tamil Nadu Politics was missing a credible face. O Panneerselvam was doing a good job as CM, but he had to step down due to the internal political rift within the party. Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that he was not aware of any meeting between PM Narendra Modi & actor Rajinikanth.
Another Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has given an open invitation to join the party. Gadkari said that there was an appropriate place for him in the BJP. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways told CNN- News 18 “He is welcome in politics and it is my request to him to think about BJP. There is an appropriate place for him.”
Rajnikanth while his addressing his fans last week criticized the political system terming it ‘rotten.’ The superstar even asked his fans to be prepared for a war. Rajnikanth had spoken against the political system in 1996 when J Jayalalitha was the CM of Tamil Nadu. The superstar had urged his fans to vote against the then Jayalalitha government. Gadkari however made it clear that he was not the decision making authority and said the party’s Parliamentary Board would have the final word.
Gadkari also praised actor Rajinikanth calling him a good human being. Heaping praise on the superstar the Union Minister said that Rajinikanth’s fan following in South India was unparalleled. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee have said that Rajinikanth will not join any political party and may float his own party in the future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met Rajinikanth at the actor’s Chennai residence before becoming the Prime Minister. The actor is expected to meet the Prime Minister soon.
