Who is Ramnath Kovind, facts about new President that not many people know!

PM Modi and Amit Shah has stunned every one by opting for a person who no one guessed. Ram Nath Kovind’s choice is infact a masterstroke by the Modi government which has almost made the opposition irrelevant. Sonia Gandhi faced a massive embarrassment and Congress could not make a statement front of media.

71 year old RamNath Kovind is a member of RSS and comes from a humble dalit family from Kanpur. He joined the RSS at a early age and later got into BJP. He studied Law from Kanpur University and practises in the Supreme Court. Later he took the IAS exam and cleared it in the third attempt. However he decided not to join as he was selected for the allied services and continued to practice Law. In the year 1977, Kovind had also worked as the private secretary to then Prime Minister Moraji Desai where he got well versed in the administrative work.

In the year 2002, he represented India and addressed the United Nations General Assembly. He was elected as the Rajya Sabha member from BJP from 1994-2000 and 2000-2006. He even served as the president of the BJP Dalit Morcha from 1998 to 2002 and also the President of the All-India Koli Samaj. He was the representative of the SC/ST of IIM Calcutta.

Kovind is said to be a very humble person and had even donated his ancestral house in Kanpur to the village. He has a strong appeal to dalits in Uttar Pradesh and has extensively campaigned for the party in many elections. He is known for his integrity and commitment. During the Oath taking cermony of the Bihar government in 2015, he had made Tej pratap yadav repeat his lines as he had mispronounced the word apekshit’ (expected) as ‘upekshit’ (neglected).

The Modi-Shah has once again showed that under their rule, the ones who work hard will be definitely rewarded. They have selected such man who will uphold the sanity of the Rashtrapati Bhavan as the President of India.
