From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the flag of a political party that could be seen in all the states of India is of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gone are the days when the saffron party was tagged as just a party that connects itself with the Hindi speaking people. And this has been once again proven, and this time in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Months ago the word “Kathua” was on the tip of the tongue of every political parties after a minor girl was raped. While the JNU student, Shehla Rashid–popular for spreading hatred among religion– accused that Hindus raped and killed the 8 year old girl in a temple of Kathua, the statements given by the accused and the video footages proved that the accused where not even present at the location of the rape incident.
But, sadly, this incident was used to target the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Hindus of the region. But now a development has taken place that has stunned the Congress party. Yes, Kathua is now Congress-mukt (free of Congress party).
Days ago the BJP had swept the local body elections by winning 16 civic polls and now four Councillors who had won on Congress tickets in the Kathua Municipal Council election embraced the saffron party and this move was headed by senior Congress leader Naresh Kumar.
After making Kathua “Congress-mukt” (free of Congress), Naresh Kumar revealed why he dumped the Congress party. He said that the Congress party was playing politics with party workers. This has proved once again that Congress party is dynasty concentric and not a party of the karyakarthas, unlike the BJP.
After this incident, now the BJP controls all six local bodies in the Kathua region and this is an indication of the growing acceptance of the BJP even in states where Hindus are less in numbers.
Speaking on this big political incident, BJP state president Ravinder Raina said “They were feeling suffocated in the Congress as that party is struggling to find its base in the Jammu region as well. These councillors have won because of their own credibility and now they have joined the BJP”.
“This is also a stamp of approval for the various local development works we have undertaken in the last four years. The people have rejected the communal and divisive politics of the Congress and its affiliates, which tried to portray the people of the region in poor light not just in the country but also internationally” said the Union minister Jitendra Singh slamming the Congress party.
