Remembering Late Sri Manohar Parrikar And His Service Towards The Nation On His Death Anniversary!

17th March 2019 was an inconsolable day when Sri Manohar Parrikar left this world. A year later, on his first death anniversary, here we write down his remarkable achievements.

Born in Mapusa (Goa), Manohar Parrikar completed his schooling from Loyola High school, Margao. He later went on to complete metallurgical engineering from IIT,Bombay in 1978.

His connection with RSS:

Parrikar had his share of contribution towards the RSS. At a very young age he became the mukya shikshak. After his education, he became a Sangh Chalak at the age of 26 in Mapusa thus starting his journey in politics thereafter.

Achievements while serving as the chief minister of Goa:

1.While Goa had never seen a full term governance of any party , Manohar Parrikar managed to complete full term and bring in huge changes.

2.He boosted tourism of Goa state to an extent that it became one of the major source of revenue like never before.

3.Known to be a man of few words, his calibre spoke to itself. He brought in the first defence expo, first film festival (IFFI) to the state.

4.He gave Rs.1 lakh to every girl child after the completion of 18 years.

5.Under his leadership, Goa became the only state where petrol price was less than diesel rate.

Achievements while serving as the defence minister under Modi’s governance:

1.He allowed 49%FDI  in defence sector to boost Indian Navy.

2.The long pending light combat Aircraft Tejas was inducted in the Air Force’s fleet. He also made sure that there is ease in process of indignation.

3.Under his leadership, the famous surgical strike in 2016 was conducted. He was a key person to establish and accomplish the task successfully.

4.The long due of One Rank One Pension was delivered by Parrikar which meant same pension,for same rank, for same length of service, irrespective of the date of retirement.

5.Under his able leadership, Ministry of Defence was successful in signing contracts with Russian manufacturers worth 5,800 crores for the army and 92,000 cores for the air force.
