Yes, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) report stated that the Kumbh Mela will generate employment for six lakh workers and revenues of Rs 1.2 lakh crore. The report stated “The ‘mela’ is expected to generate a revenue of INR 1,200 billion for Uttar Pradesh, the state where it is being held. Other states like Rajasthan, Uttarkhand, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh will also benefit from the enhanced revenue generation with a large number of national and foreign tourists expected to explore other destinations”.
Reports had said that Kumbh Mela will be spread over an area of 45 km from the earlier 20 km radius. Even the amount allocated was more than double from the Rs 1600 crore that was allocated in 2013. Due to the combined efforts of PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela has succeeded in injecting a big boost to the economy of the Uttar Pradesh and several other states. Earlier the Uttar Pradesh finance minister Rajesh Agarwal said “The UP government has allocated Rs 4,200 crore for the 2019 Kumbh Mela. The previous state government had spent around Rs 1,300 crore for the Maha Kumbh, which was held in 2013”.
The special thing in this time’s Kumbh Mela is that devotees will be able to offer prayers at Akhsay Vat, which has been closed for 450 years, during Ardha Kumbh. The authority has installed over 1,000 CCTV cameras to monitor various movements across the Mela area spread across 3,200 hectares.
