RTI reveals how much PM Modi spends on his social media outreach, the amount will shock you!

Just a few days back, we read many news and articles on how Arvind Kejriwal had spent over 100 crores just on media publicity and self promotion. The CAG had blasted Kejriwal and Delhi government for misusing public funds and tax payers money.

The same people had submitted an RTI query to know how much PM Modi spends on his social media campaign and publicity. The RTI application was filed by AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The PMO which replied to the RTI query sent all the details with documents and proof as to how much money was spent on Prime Minister’s social media campaign. In what may come as a surprise to many, the documents revealed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence on multiple social media platforms has not cost the exchequer a single rupee since May 2014.

The PMO sources have categorically revealed that the official mobile app of the Prime Minister’s Office “PMO India” was designed by students in a contest conducted by MyGov and Google and no social media campaign has been run on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Google accounts maintained by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The reply to Sisodia’s RTI stated that “There was no cost except the prize money in developing the App.” Even this prize money has been paid by Google. The response to Sisodia’s RTI application shows that the ‘Narendra Modi App’ is neither developed nor maintained by the PMO or the Government of India.

This clearly shows how PM Modi has cut out all the extra expenses by giving contracts to big companies and is instead using the talents of people to help him maintain the Apps and accounts. It is said that PM Modi had warned his officials giving any publicity of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in the initial days. But today ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has become one programme where All India Radio spends almost nothing and earns a lot. In 2015-16, the programme generated a gross advertising revenue of Rs. 4.78 crores, the official told a leading English daily ANI.

It is definitely a slap in the face of Kejriwal and his Dy CM Manish Sisodia attempting to malign PM Modi cover his mis governance and find an excuse for spending crores of tax payers money on advertising and self promotion.
