Seven years ago, when shameful JNU students “celebrated” the massacre of 76 brave CRPF soldiers by Communists

Seven years ago, on April 6, India witnessed its worst ever attack on the police force. The Communist Party of India (Maoists) ambushed the Central Reserve Police Force, in which 76 bravehearts were martyred. The deadliest ever attack on the Indian security forces happened in Dantewada district of Chhatisgarh, when the CRPF officers were conducting a joint exercise with the local police. While the entire country was in the state of deep shock, pain and anguish over the death of 76 brave soldiers at the hands of communists, the leftist students in JNU were celebrating this event.

In the evening of 6 April 2010, when the CRPF and local police were returning to their base after a joint exercise, more than 300 communists ambushed them. In the ambush, 76 out of the 80 CRPF members in the team were killed. As the news began to spread, entire nation, the political establishments, governments at the centre and states were shocked by the sheer magnitude of the reign of terror let loose by the communist terrorists in the district of Dantewada. The scenes at JNU were, somehow, completely opposite.

The two left wing student bodies of Jawaharlal Nehru University – DSU (Democratic Students Union) and AISA (All India Students Association) – called a meeting late night to celebrate the killings of 76 CRPF soldiers, calling it a victory of Maoism. The students gathered, celebrated late till night, raising slogans like “India Murdabad (death to India)”, “Maowaad zindabad (Long live Maoism)”. While the entire nation was mourning over the deadly terror attacks, the leftist students of JNU were celebrating it late into night with alcohol, food and dance.

To remind our readers, AISA and DSU are the same organisations to which Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid belong to. The celebrations by DSU and AISA on the killings of 76 CRPF personnel was not the only anti-national activity. They have regularly supported the armed war against India, worshiping terrorists like Afzal Guru and Yakub Memon. Last year, the issue became well known all across the country when they were caught raising anti-India slogans “Bharat tere tukde honge, Inshahallah Inshahallah”, “Kashmir ki aazaadi tak jang chalegi, jang chalegi”, “Afzal hum sharminda hain, tere qaatil zinda hain.”
