In a shocking and controversial statement, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav indirectly supported the huge parallel economy running in the country by unaccounted black money and claimed that it was “black money which helped India during the times of recession“. While on one hand, Narendra Modi and most of the honest citizens are all out against black money and have welcomed the move of demonetisation, there are politicians like Arvind Kejriwal, Mayawati, Mamata Bannerjee and Akhilesh Yadav who are vociferously opposing the demonetisation move by invoking one excuse or the other. One thing is very clear – the war against black money, unaccounted cash and hawala transactions have hit these parties very hard.
However, realising the controversial remark that he had already made, Akhilesh tried to qualify his statements by further adding that he is not in favour of generation of black money. He said, “Economic experts say the magnitude of the global economic crisis at times is not felt in India because of strong (parallel) economy of black money. I am very clear on this…black money should not be generated. I am opposed to black money. I do not want it,“.
While all the politicians whose unaccounted wealth have been hit hard by this step of Modi government are hiding in the garb of inconvenience cause to the poor and common men, the truth is that everyone is bravely and patiently facing the inconvenience for the country’s better and transparent future. There has not been any case of protest against the government, demonstrations, dharnas and the queues have been patient and peaceful. All these are clear indications that common men are not complaining. They are strongly with the government on this move and are patiently braving the inconvenience for their better future. It is just the corrupt politicians who are restless, as this has hit their illegal wealth and party fundings really hard.
